Tim Burns: On a roll in PA-12

Tim Burns, a candidate we’ve recently spotlighted, is receiving more and more national attention in the lead-up to his special election in Pennsylvania on May 18th.  And apparently, it’s been a pretty great few days for him.

Yesterday’s USA Today and this morning’s LA Times’ Top of the Ticket blog both had interesting articles on his momentum up in Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District, and the LA Times went so far ask to ask the question “can Republicans turn Tim Burns into the next Scott Brown?”

Here are excerpts from both.  I highly recommend reading them, and as soon as you’re done, go take a look at Tim Burns for Congress.

USA Today:

So far it’s been a pretty good week for Tim Burns, the Republican running to succeed Democratic titan Jack Murtha, D-Pa.  First, Sarah Palin blows him kisses on Facebook.  Then, respected political analyst Charlie Cook tells readers of his non-partisan newsletter that Burns has a better-than-even chance of winning a congressional district where Democrats have a better than two-to-one registration edge.

LA Times’ TOT Blog:

If Burns becomes the latest national political focus of the anti-administration crowd’s support and money and pulls off the upset, many will see it as a further forecast of what’s coming Nov. 2 in the crucial midterm elections that will set the politcal table for the two-year run-up to 2012.
